History of Art and Media


1/2 Credit - A/B Semester

This course explores the art, history, and media techniques of various artists. Students will study art history beginning in the Renaissance and continue through modern, contemporary art. Student learning will be interactive and exciting while developing skills in art criticism, interpretation and appreciation. Students will use writing and visual thinking strategies to analyze, synthesize and discuss works of art. In addition to studying art history, students will create artwork connected to the unit of study and explore the use of both two and three dimensional media. 

NOTE: This course is highly recommended for students pursuing a career in fine and liberal arts.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Art I.

Open to grades 10, 11, 12.
