Silversmithing

Silversmithing - 912

1/2 Credit - A/B Semester

Silversmithing is a class designed to give students the opportunity to learn basic silversmithing techniques by designing and creating original jewelry using copper, nu-gold, and sterling silver. Students will learn how to shape, bend, cut, pierce, solder, polish, and set cabochon stones to create a variety of projects. Basic projects include rings, pendants, and bracelets. This is a great course for exploring your design skills while creating functional artwork. Patience and fine motor skills will be needed.

Note: It is recommended that Art II be taken before Silversmithing to improve design and drawing skills.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Art 1.
Open to grades 11, 12.
