As a Horticulture student at the Cheshire Career Center, you will develop and demonstrate the employability skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for successful entry into the horticultural, nursery, greenhouse, and landscaping industries. Your hands-on learning will include managing the entire operation of our on-site greenhouse - from growing and cultivating plants in a controlled environment to marketing and selling them during one of our seasonal sales events. You will also get an opportunity to demonstrate your landscape design capabilities through one of our projects with local area businesses, government agencies, schools, and nonprofit organizations.
 
You will learn environmental safety standards, greenhouse management, landscape design, plant classification and biology, integrated pest management, and equipment maintenance.
 
You can earn Work Based Learning experience, college credits, and a Future Farmers of America (FFA) membership. Your career pathways (with additional education and training) include Greenhouse and Nursery Manager, Landscape Architect, Horticulturist, PGA Golf Course Designer, CSA Entrepreneur, Tree Specialist.
