Construction Trades
As a Construction Trades student, you will develop and demonstrate the employability skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for successful entry into the high-demand and ever-expanding field of building trades. Working in our fully equipped shop, your hands-on learning will focus on how to safely set up and use hand and power tools, ladders and scaffolding, and personal protective equipment. You will also learn how to apply mathematical concepts and principles to accurately measure and frame floors, walls, roofs, and windows, and install doors. Under the instructor’s supervision and guidance, you will become an active member of a construction team, whose goal is to assist in the planning, scheduling, construction, and delivery of various modular buildings.
You will learn OSHA and industry safety standards, residential building, blueprint reading, basic electrical and plumbing, masonry, and industry building trends.
You can take part in Work-Based Learning experience (internships), earn the OSHA 10 card.
Your career pathways (with additional education and training) include Journeyman Electrician or Plumber, Residential Contractor, Construction Manager, HVAC Specialist, Architect, Green Building Designer.
